2nd Grade Awards Ceremony

2nd grade students with perfect attendance from September-October received a certificate and pencils.

Congratulations to 2nd graders who received awards at a recent ceremony held in the auditorium!  Nearly 75 students received certificates in the following categories:

• Math Masters
• Golden Rule Award (Project Wisdom)
• Star Student - Writing/ELA
• Reading (Accelerated Reader)
• Honor Roll 
• Perfect Attendance

Assistant principal of lower grades, Ms. Martin, spoke about the importance of coming to school each day and how it impacts student achievement.  "Did you notice how many of the students that received a perfect attendance certificate also received a certificate in a subject area?", she asked the audience.  "Students who achieve success often have great attendance".

At this assembly, second grade teachers rewarded all students with a movie based on a book that they had been reading in class.  Charlotte's Web by E. B. White is the story of a little pig named Wilbur who was born a runt, and Mr. Arable decides to kill him! His daughter Fern begs him to let the helpless little pig live. Her father decides to let Fern keep him as a pet. Wilbur meets a bunch of new friends including Charlotte.  Click here to see a video summarizing the book and take a quiz!
